In June 2006, I opened an account on MySpace.
(back then it was an exciting place to be, nothing to do with what it became)
I met interesting people and artists on that site, and some of them are still my friends.

"Virginie" was on MySpace from June 2006 to October 2009,
and the following is a rearrangement of my page/profile.
Blogger doesn't have the same template so it doesn't look the same.
Too bad because it doesn't have the same impact/atmosphere.
I was really proud of its design, but now it's lost forever.

Well, what can I say... nothing more except that I hope you will enjoy this post,
and for those who wonder who is behind/inside THE MAFU CAGE they will learn a little more about me...

I was born in Paris (France) in November 1960.
My mother was a professional dancer. She worked in the Jerome Andrews Modern Dance Company.
In 1970, they were the first in France to dance completely naked, inviting the audience to get up on stage
and paint the bodies of the dancers to the rhythm of the music of James Brown, Jefferson Airplane,
Jethro Tull, Free Jazz, African percussion, Japanese Gagaku...
It was an event and a mini scandal in Paris.

When I was a child and then a teenager I learned dance
(from 12 to 15 hours a week, sometimes lots more),
drama, painting, and Indian vocal percussion.
No time for school!

At the age of 17, I left home (and never came back) to live my own life.
For 15 years I worked in Record Stores in Paris, several towns in France, and in Belgium.
From 1982 to 1991, with some friends of mine, we published a magazine called "Hello Happy Taxpayers!".
We talked about the music scene of the 80's: Black Flag, Killdozer, Flipper, Germs, Swans, Sonic Youth,
Teenage Jesus and the Jerks, Richard Hell, Fear, Wipers, Foetus, Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV, Laibach,
Einstüerzende Neubauten, S.P.K., 100 Flowers, Wall of Voodoo... and many more.
At the same time I was into Role Playing Games.
Imagine 6 or 8 people locked in a house pretending to be warriors, magicians, elves, dwarfs...
fighting against imaginary orks, gobelins, and other weird creatures.

It was really fun!

But times and people change - nothing is permanent - and most of my friends got married,
have children, and are only concerned about professional career and family problems.
That's not the kind of life I want to live, so one by one they have disappeared...

Well... there are less people around me but I still have my passions (music, movies, video games...) to brighten up my days.
And to quote Billy Corgan, leader of the band "The Smashing Pumpkins"
"Every light I've found is every light that's shining down on me.
I'm never alone."

Eye on the the TV
'Cause tragedy thrills me
Whatever flavor it happens to be, like...
"Killed by the husband"
"Drowned by the ocean"
"Shot by his own son"
"She used a poison in his tea, and kissed him goodbye"
That's my kind of story
It's no fun 'til someone dies

Don't look at me like I am a monster
Frown out your one face, but with the other
Stare like a junkie into the TV
Stare like a zombie
While the mother holds her child, watches him die
Hands to the sky crying, "Why, oh why?"

Cause I need to watch things die...from a distance
Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
You all need it too, don't lie

Why can't we just admit it?
Why can't we just admit it?
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing
Neither the brave nor bold
Will write as the story's told
We won't give pause until the blood is flowing

I need to watch things die...from a good safe distance
Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
You all feel the same, so...

Why can't we just admit it?

Blood like rain come down
Drum on grave and ground

Part vampire
Part warrior
Carnivore and Voyeur
Stare at the transmitter
Sing to the death rattle

Incredulous at best your desire to believe in
Angels in the hearts of men
Pull your head on out your hippie haze and give a listen
Shouldn't have to say it all again
The universe is hostile, so impersonal
Devour to survive... so it is, so it's always been

We all feed on tragedy
It's like blood to a vampire

Vicariously I live while the whole world dies
Much better you than I
